Blackberry Bold to hit UK in September

The hotly anticipated 3G Blackberry Bold will launch in September in the UK for T-Mobile business customers, it was announced today.

T-Mobile first to announce launch of new Berry

T-Mobile announced today that RIM’s new Blackberry 9000, or Bold as it is more familiarly known, will be arriving in Britain in September.

The Bold is Blackberry’s first handset to support 3G (HSPDA) networks, and also boasts an eyeball friendly 480 x 320 display, GPS capability, Wi-Fi, and the obligatory camera and video recorder. It can also view and edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files and can accommodate up to 8GB microSD cards. Needless to say, people who have resisted Apple’s attempts to take over the world with the iPhone are looking forward to the Bold as the handset to deliver the high-speed, user friendly, media capable alternative that is so sorely needed right now.

Despite looking like a prime candidate for breaking the consumer market, the phone will initially be launched only on T-Mobile’s Business 1-Plan, although rumours are floating around that availability on consumer tariffs will follow. By launching earlier than expected, T-Mobile is trumping Vodafone, which was widely tipped to be the first to market with the Bold. 3 have made it known that they will also be carrying the handset, but not until later in the year.

Watch this space for a full review of the Bold in the next couple of weeks.
